Degree Spotlight: Innovation & Entrepreneurship Master's at Full Sail University
The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Master of Science at Full Sail University
The Innovation & Entrepreneurship master of science degree program at Full Sail University helps students take a business idea from concept to reality with careful research, planning, and strategies. Program Director for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Ryan Kitelyn explains that this business degree program "explores diverse aspects of product design and development to meet the needs of a rapidly changing global market."
This degree program is also a LEAD Education Award winner which selected Innovation & Entrepreneurship based on survey results from graduates of the program.
Mastery
Like other master's programs at Full Sail, the Innovation & Entrepreneurship degree begins with a course on Mastery: Personal Development and Leadership. This portion of the program is designed to set students up for success in a graduate program setting before they dive deeper into their subject. That includes learning things like vital leadership skills, how to conduct research, and how to demonstrate mastery of a subject.
Entrepreneurship
At the top of this program, you'll explore areas of entrepreneurship like product design and development and innovative work environments. In the Creativity and Innovation course, you'll learn how to identify opportunities and how to talk with potential clients and stakeholders. You'll also gain the skills you need to develop products and services for a target market and create go-to-market plans.
This is a hands-on degree program where you'll demonstrate what you've learned through a project-based curriculum. That includes coming up with innovative strategies for existing businesses ventures that give a fresh perspective and incorporate future-focused technology.
Ryan says, "In these projects, you will conduct industry research and apply what you've learned to identify solutions for specific business problems." You'll also share ideas for your own solutions to industry challenges from product development and marketing strategies to other financial opportunities.
Creating a Business Plan
In the latter half of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship master's degree, you'll actually develop an idea into a comprehensive business plan. Your courses will cover topics like how to launch a new business and the reality of day-to-day business management. You'll conduct research to show industry trends, competitive analysis, and demonstrate financial viability.
This business plan will give you something to showcase your advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and experience to both potential employers and stakeholders.
"By the time you've completed your Innovation & Entrepreneurship degree, you will be prepared to launch a business venture and apply your knowledge and skills throughout your professional career," says Ryan.
