Full Sail University’s Behind the Scenes Tour: A Creative Way to Experience Life On Campus
Every month, Full Sail University holds a unique Behind the Scenes campus tour that gives prospective students an in-depth look at the campus, curriculum, and student life.
This hands-on experience is designed to give parents and students the insight they need to make to make an informed decision when considering colleges. Visitors interested in the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting will experience a program-specific tour that includes an interactive workshop and info sessions on topics like financial aid, housing, admissions, and more. The Behind the Scenes tour allows parents and students to explore the campus facilities while learning about what makes Full Sail unique.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TOUR
Prospective sportscasting students begin their day at the registration center to sign in, receive their credentials, and proceed to an orientation session that introduces them to Full Sail's educational approach as well as its active community of students, faculty, and alumni.
Once the orientation session concludes, students and their families move to one of the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting’s unique creative learning spaces. The group will gather in a real-life television studio where they meet with the school’s Program Director, Emmy Award-winning producer, Gus Ramsey, formerly of ESPN. Gus chats with attendees on a sports-talk show set about his previous experience as well as about the program’s curriculum, partnerships, academic leaders, and more.
After learning about the program, students then proceed to the highlight of the tour: taking part in a workshop where they have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on an actual sportscasting stage. The prospective sportscasters will be called on to perform a live commentary with rolling cameras, live mics, and bright lights. All in attendance will a glimpse at what goes into producing a show, from rolling the sound in a control room to directing the talent on stage. Before moving on to the next phase of the tour, students receive a recording of their time on set as a souvenir.
Following the workshop, guests may attend additional events that offer the opportunity to chat with instructors and representatives from admissions, enrollment, housing, and more. The tour wraps up with a Guest Speaker Panel featuring distinguished alumni and Orlando community leaders from various programs.
