Students can now earn their Intensive English Certificate online in four months.
For more than eight years, Full Sail has offered a program to help students improve their English capabilities in order to get the most out of their education. Now, we're also offering our Intensive English Certificate program online.
The online Intensive English program is a two- to four-month program for students who can test into Level 3 (Intermediate II) or Level 4 (Advanced) English after taking a language proficiency exam. Students must also provide high school transcripts and complete an interview with a Full Sail Admissions representative.
According to Olivia Peters-Rivera, Full Sail's Director of Intensive English, the online program is a great opportunity for students to get plugged into Full Sail sooner. "One of the benefits for students studying at Full Sail is that they are already integrating into the Full Sail community before they even start the degree program," says Olivia. They can become familiar with our learning management system online and how it works, meet people, and attend guest speaker sessions.
Intensive English program students also have access to other resources, like Full Sail's extensive digital library and one-on-one live support sessions, as well as the opportunity to meet with instructors outside of class for extra help.
"Also at Full Sail, because our university is focused on entertainment, media, and technology, our Intensive English program is too," says Olivia. She says that while it does prepare students no matter where they want to go, our program includes film, pop culture, comic book strips, and many different media elements.
Olivia has advice for students who want to take the Intensive English program online. She says, "It's really important for students to make sure that they know what they want to accomplish, because they need to have that inner motivation to be able to push their way through."
However, they shouldn't be worried about taking a language program online.
"Our intensive program is meant to bring students from a low proficiency to an advanced proficiency in English in a relatively short period of time," she says. "So the misconception would be that it's not possible or it's very difficult to be able to achieve that goal in the same amount of time as you would on campus. And I would say it definitely can be done, and they're seeing all the initial students who enrolled are doing really, really well."
Graduates of the Intensive English program may also be eligible for Full Sail University's Intensive English Alumni Scholarship, for which they can receive funds that can be applied to their subsequent degree program.
