Full Sail
Welcome to Full Sail: An Introduction for Parents
An overview for parents about Full Sail’s educational philosophy, campus, alumni, and career support services.
Full Sail University began as a mobile audio recording workshop in 1979. Today, Full Sail has dozens of degree programs in entertainment media and emerging technologies for our diverse campus and online students. We are committed to providing our students with an education that is current, relevant, and tailored to their chosen industry while uplifting and celebrating the range of voices in our community. Whether your child is interested in an online program or a campus degree, we’re devoted to helping them learn foundational and specialized skills that they’ll need for the professional world.
Learning at Full Sail
Full Sail’s philosophy is all about real-world experience and hands-on projects taught by educators with industry experience. Our campus and online degree programs are offered at an accelerated pace, so your child will experience the required work hours of their chosen industry and graduate in half the time of a traditional bachelor’s program.
Our degree programs are project-based, with a series of Project & Portfolio classes that help students build their professional portfolios. Your child will build these portfolios with the help of Project LaunchBox, a Full Sail program that provides students with degree-specific technology like laptops, camera equipment, and industry-standard software. The LaunchBox is theirs to keep after they graduate, so they can continue creating wherever they go.
Full Sail’s educators are required to have several years of industry experience, so they can coach and mentor students from a professional standpoint. We also have working professionals who collaborate with our educators to help them develop up-to-date, industry-ready curriculum.
Campus Facilities for Real-World Learning
Full Sail’s campus is packed with professional environments for students’ project-based work. Some of our hands-on facilities include Studio V1: Virtual Production, a multi-million-dollar virtual production studio where students from multiple degree programs can use art and technology to create immersive sets for film and television; Full Sail University’s Fitness Technology Lab Powered by Echelon Fitness, where students can research, design, and develop tech-based fitness applications; the Audio Temple, a recording facility where students can work on their audio projects and witness live recording sessions with professional musicians; and the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress, a flexible live production space that’s also home to Armada, Full Sail’s collegiate-level esports team.
A Creative Student Community
At Full Sail, your child will have a chance to connect and collaborate with like-minded students both in and out of the classroom. Our student groups include the Student Community Association, the International Student Society, the Black Student Union, the Veteran Student Union, Pride Club, and many more. Gamers can also try out for (and cheer on) Full Sail Armada, our collegiate esports team.
Living in Winter Park, Florida
Full Sail is located in Winter Park, Florida, a city with beautiful year-round weather and plenty of opportunities for off-campus exploration. Music venues, movie theaters, museums, concert halls, and sports venues lie just beyond Full Sail’s campus. Theme parks like Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando are within 30 miles of Full Sail. Outdoorsy students can check out Central Florida’s lakes, springs, wildlife refuges, hiking trails, and beaches.
Alumni Success
Full Sail graduates have worked on Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy-winning projects, blockbuster video games, and record-breaking concert tours. They’ve also developed hardware and software, designed successful ad campaigns, and much more.
We celebrate our successful grads at our annual Hall of Fame Week, where six graduates who have made significant contributions to their industries and the Full Sail community are inducted into Full Sail’s Hall of Fame. The weeklong celebration also features conference-style panels, workshops, and fun activities for students and graduates.
Career Support
Full Sail’s Career Development department can support your child’s professional goals throughout their career. Students and graduates have access to an advisory team composed of degree-specific industry professionals. Career Development also provides guidance on job-hunting strategies, including résumé and cover letter tips, personal brand development, and practice interviews.
Career Development also hosts events like guest speakers, networking opportunities, and online workshops. Graduating students are invited to join CareerSync, an online portal that connects Full Sail graduates to job listings. Graduates who have completed their degree program can also audit a current class in that program at any time, free of charge.
