Full Sail
Teacher Appreciation Week 2021 at Full Sail University
Teachers were celebrated with a variety of virtual events, workshops, and giveaways.
Teachers do more than teach, and that’s why this year Full Sail wanted to come together for Teacher Appreciation Week May 3 – 7 to celebrate K-12 educators nationwide. Educators around the country motivate, inspire, and give back each day – and in the last year alone, teachers have proven they are capable of more than just their “normal” day-to-day.
Full Sail organized the weeklong virtual Teacher Appreciation Week event just for teachers – no teaching required – and the week included professional development webinars featuring Full Sail alumni, free resource offerings, and the opportunity to win some incredible gear.
Larry Katz (2000 Film graduate and Full Sail faculty member) kicked off the event on day one and shared his insight on the process behind the scenes of the film industry. Teachers and their students were able to learn more about the individual pieces that all come together on the big screen. Final Draft, one of the event sponsors, also presented to educators on the first day – sharing more on their scriptwriting software and how to utilize it in the classroom.
Several notable Full Sail graduates held backstage sessions for our virtual guests, touching on topics in the many industries we serve including art, technology, music and recording, and more. Afternoon sessions were tailored towards classroom management, software tips and tricks, and more to aid teachers for both in-person and virtual teaching.
The week wasn’t just filled with grads and sponsors – teachers were also invited to present. Crooms Information Technology Academy in Sanford, Florida, shared their experience in building community engagement and helping students become “future ready.” Leaders from the academy discussed their business advisory committee, an annual school-wide career fair, and student-driven events for charity.
Educators from all around the world joined us for Teacher Appreciation Week and took advantage of the opportunity to connect with one another virtually and share stories from the last school year. Join us in our K-12 Educator Facebook Group to catch on-demand sessions from the week.
